In the heart of the Somerset countryside, the racecourse stages an excellent programme of quality jump race meetings. Renowned for its friendly atmosphere & its superb facilities it has been voted 'Best small racecourse in the South West' for 12 successive years by the Racegoers Club.
Wincanton is rural jumping at its best and although the course is sharp in nature, it hosts excellent racing with some of the countries best horses providing pointers galore to the championship races.
Nicholl's Azertyuiop is just one Cheltenham Festival winner that strutted his stuff in a preliminary race at Wincanton.
In the past Desert Orchid was a regular here and even the formidable Dickinson family used to send their best horses down from Yorkshire prior to running at Cheltenham.
Directions
By Road
Wincanton is 37 miles from Bristol and 16 miles from Yeovil. The course is off the B3081 which in turn is off the A303. From the east and west the A303 serves the area from the north the A37 and from the south A357
By Rail
A courtesy bus services is in operation on race days and collects race goers from the Templecombe railway station. It generally meets the Waterloo train. Check our website for travel news before racing for times of the bus service. If you wish to get to the course by taxi as you are not sure what time you will be arriving, it is also advisable to get a train to Gillingham as there are always waiting taxis at this station.
By Air
Bristol Airport is approximately 30 minutes away. From the Aiport take the B3130 east to join the A37. Head southbound on the A37 to the A303, then pick up the A303 eastbound to Wincanton. Turn right off the A303 into the town of Wincanton and follow the brown tourist signs to the racecourse

Wincanton is a well respected jumping course. A right hand, wide track mainly flat, Wincanton's a fair test for chasers and hurdlers. Circuit 1m 3f.
