Racing was first recorded 330 years ago in the reign of Charles
II at this splendid site on top of the Haldon Hills which, with
its far-reaching views, is one of the most attractive courses
in Britain. The views of the jumping action on this undulating
course are superb.
Exeter's strength is its fairness. At two miles
in circumference it is one of the longest ovals in the country
and provides
a wonderful test of galloping with no quirks.
The fields may
disappear from the view of the grandstands as they go into
the dip on the far straight but the course executive
has kindly provided a huge TV screen behind the winning post
so as not to miss and of the action.
And being located on the
A38 it is one of the most accessible courses in the area.
