- Bathwick Tyres Trainers championship winner to be awarded
- Jason Dufosee Trophy for leading jockey to be awarded
Friday 11th May marks the end of the 2006/7 racing season for Wincanton Racecourse as they host their last race on the season’s fixture list. To celebrate the end of a successful season, Wincanton will be presenting their two most prestigious annual industry awards, the Bathwick Tyres Trainers Championship and the Jason Dufosee Trophy for the leading jockey.
The Bathwick Tyres Trainers Championship, is set to be the most hotly contended competition, with four top trainers all in the running for the first prize of £8,000. Moreover, jockey Sam Thomas currently leads the race for the Jason Dufosee Trophy but the competition is close behind making for a nail-biting finish. This trophy will be presented by a member of the Dufosee family. Both of these competitions are set to provide a tense finish on the night with additional prizes of £2000 and a £1000 box at the Course to also be awarded in the Bathwick Tyres Trainers Championship.
Steven Clarke, Managing Director of Wincanton Racecourse said: “This season has been one of our most exciting to date. The standard of trainers and jockeys that the Course has attracted over recent years is enviable and I look forward to Friday as the culmination of the trainers championship and the Jason Dufosee trophy as an opportunity to thank them for their support throughout the season.
“Awarded the Best Small Racecourse in the South West by the Racegoers Association for the sixteenth year, as well as winning the Racehorse Owners Association Gold Standard Award again in March were great recognition for the team here.”
